On your way out of Spartanburg, claim your calm with a visit to Hatcher Garden and Woodland Preserve, where the stunning scenery, wildlife and garden “rooms” show off native plants, a butterfly garden, water, conifer outdoor rooms, a therapeutic serenity garden, and a paved trail lined with Revolutionary-era plants.
Along the way, make a stop in downtown Clinton’s historic Main Street area, with beautiful architecture, shopping and dining. Check out the Clinton Museum and take a drive through picturesque Presbyterian College.
In between lakefront golf and serious splashing around at Lake Greenwood, take in some downhome cooking, international flavors, and shopping from the farm to Uptown.

Golfer Davis Love III took advantage of the stunning views of Lake Greenwood and the rolling landscape in his design for the Patriot. The course has a classical, unforced style with intricate greens and an unusual earthen star fort that stands as both the starting point and a reminder of the area’s Revolutionary War heritage. Voted best new course in South Carolina when it was built in 2004, the Patriot has a logical routing plan that promotes walking. Grand Harbor also includes a tennis center, equestrian center and marina.
An idyllic spot with friendly animals and a variety of small shops, Emerald Farm is a lovely place to spend some time. Stroll through the herb gardens, take a ride on the Emerald Farm Express train (Saturdays only), and sample the goat milk soaps and other handmade body products to take home. Peak inside the Train and Hobby Shop or antique store before you go.
The Village at Wyatt Farms is a fairytale setting of greenhouses, beautiful landscaping, and acres of hardwood and pine forest. Find whatever you need for your yard beautification projects in the garden shop, nursery and greenhouses. Tour the art studio, where painter Roger Stevenson and a group of potters create beautiful pieces to sell. You can also take a pottery class, or stroll the landscaped grounds and let your imagination run free.
